Dino Melaye Predicts Victory for PDP in Kogi State Governorship Election
The Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) gubernatorial candidate for Kogi State, Dino Melaye, has offered his prediction for the outcome of the upcoming election scheduled for November 11.
Following a meeting between Kogi PDP stakeholders and the National Working Committee (NWC) members from the state’s three Senatorial Districts, Melaye expressed confidence in the PDP’s victory, citing the dire circumstances faced by citizens under the current All Progressives Congress (APC) government.
Lamenting State of Affairs and Providing Encouragement
Melaye voiced his concerns over the deteriorating state of healthcare, education, and overall quality of life during the APC’s tenure.
He urged the PDP stakeholders not to be intimidated by the ruling APC members in the state, assuring them of the PDP’s commitment to protect the rights of the people.
Melaye emphasized that the present conditions in Kogi State, including unpaid salaries, pensions, and a struggling health sector, necessitate a change in leadership.
He conveyed, “The PDP is going to win the election in Kogi State because we have never had it so bad in the state’s history.
Our people are impoverished, salaries have not been paid, pensions have not been paid, gratuities have not been paid.
The health sector is non-existent. In fact, all the general hospitals in the state are mere consulting clinics.”
Pledge of Restoration and Palliation
Melaye further outlined the PDP’s intentions to address these issues and revitalize essential sectors like education and healthcare.
He assured the stakeholders that with their strategies and resolutions, the PDP is well-prepared for the upcoming election.
He concluded, “I want to assure you that by the grace of God.
With the resolutions of this meeting, with the strategy adopted in this meeting, the PDP is good to go in Kogi State.”
Confidence from the NWC and Reconciliation Efforts
Acting National Chairman of the PDP, Umar Damagum, echoed Melaye’s optimism.
He affirmed that signs were already indicating the PDP’s strength in the forthcoming governorship election.
He emphasized the importance of reconciliation within the party’s ranks and outlined a three-stage reconciliation process from ward to state level.
Damagum also highlighted the involvement of Ademola Adeleke, the Chairman of the Kogi Campaign Committee, who has pledged to engage with stakeholders across various zones and campaign vigorously to secure victory for the PDP.
