A disturbing video was released this week showing a male Florida student, who is 6 ft. 6 in. in height, beating an unconscious female staff member inside a school after she confiscated his Nintendo Switch video game device.
In the video, the enraged 17-year-old runs towards the female educator, who notices him just before he violently shoves her to the ground. The 270-pound student then repeatedly stomps on the unconscious paraprofessional inside Matanzas High School in Palm Coast, and punches her 15 times.
The teacher was rushed to a local hospital and is expected to recover from her injuries. Other staffers who witnessed the brutal attack intervened and pulled the boy off the teacher.
The Flagler County Sheriff’s Office later released another video showing the attacker being handcuffed inside a classroom. According to the police, the student was upset with the victim because she took his Nintendo Switch away during class.
He was charged with felony battery and has been turned over to the Department of Juvenile Justice. In response to the incident, Volusia County School officials issued a statement affirming their commitment to cooperating with the investigation and maintaining the safety and security of their students and staff.
