Rand As the heat wave continues to scorch areas of the country, the water industry is urging people to save water.
The water provider stated in a Monday statement that it will be compelled to enforce water supply limits if clients do not cooperate.
Since temperatures began to rise a week ago, Rand Water’s Makenosi Maroo said the company has observed an increase in water consumption. Maroo stated, “As a result, water storage in reservoirs has been rapidly declining.”
Maroo noted that the situation was exacerbated by the fact that the Rand Water systems experienced repeated power outages between January 13 and January 15.

Kamogelo Mgotsi, spokesman for the minister of water and sanitation, was reported in the Sunday World this week as saying, “South Africa is a water-scarce nation, and while there are various water sources, these must be protected to assure water supply for future generations.
Several causes, including climate change and population growth, have led to an increase in water consumption, putting a strain on certain water sources. Loadshedding has also had a negative impact on the water supply, interfering with the treatment and distribution of water.
