Edo strengthens national film relationship with ROK Studios

According to the Edo State Skills Development Agency (EdoJobs), relationships with national film companies like Rok Studios have generated a consistent stream of film productions in the state, with producers taking advantage of resources like the Victor Uwaifo Creative in Benin City.

In a conversation with journalists, the managing director of EdoJobs, Mrs. Ukinabo Dare, stated that the Governor Godwin Obaseki-led administration will continue to develop the filmmaking abilities of Edo youths through partnership with ROK Studios.

18 movies, according to her, have been made in the state as a result of the collaboration with reputable studios.

The goal of the Edo State government, according to her, is to turn the state into a centre for Nigeria’s creative industry.

By the end of 2022, fifty films will have been filmed in the state thanks to our collaboration with ROK Studios.

Over 150 citizens of Edo State were trained as part of the partnership’s initial phase in the necessary creative abilities for scriptwriting, cinematography, and sound engineering.

Film and television productions are increasingly using Edo State as a site.

The goal of our strategy is to bring the entire film industry to the region.

This will introduce emerging creative talent to the most significant Nollywood veterans and stakeholders and provide them the chance to engage and compete competitively in the filmmaking business.

She claims that between January 2022 and July 2022, 18 movies were filmed in Edo State.

These movies include Uwaoma, When God Says Yes, Kissing Frogs, Atonement, Home Coming, Out of Sight, Etebite, and The Secret, in addition to the well-known television series Blood of Enogie.

Filling Station, Family House, Love Happens, Osariemen, Osifo, Red Ribbon, International Mistake, Thicker Than Blood, and An Odd Love are some further titles.

The beneficiaries of the programme were actively involved in the making of these films, she said, adding that “some of these films have shown on local and worldwide networks and have included Edo individuals in the creative industry actively engaged as part of the cast and crew.”
