Elon Musk, the CEO of Twitter, may relocate the company’s headquarters out of San Francisco after the city initiated an investigation into accusations that a portion of Twitter’s corporate buildings had been transformed into sleeping accommodations for exhausted employees.
Musk publicly objected to the Department of Building Inspection’s decision to investigate concerns that Twitter may be violating zoning restrictions.
On Tuesday, he issued a tweet that directly mentioned the Democratic mayor of the city, London Breed.
Musk tweeted, “So city of San Francisco fights companies providing beds for exhausted employees instead of ensuring children are safe from fentanyl.”

The tweet contained a link to a San Francisco Chronicle article about a 10-month-old newborn who overdosed on fentanyl found on a neighborhood playground.
Musk has made no secret of his dislike for San Francisco.

Saturday, he entered into a Twitter Spaces conference and stated that the company’s location in San Francisco could impede his efforts to restore “free expression” on the platform.
Musk was quoted by Bloomberg News as saying, “What’s occurring is an export of San Francisco’s moral framework to Earth.” This is somewhat significant and worrisome.
Musk has reinstated the accounts of former President Donald Trump, controversial author Jordan Peterson, and satirical news site Babylon Bee since assuming control of Twitter more than a month ago.
In addition, he fired Twitter attorney Jim Baker this week for his “potential role in suppression of information crucial to the public discussion” following the social media site’s historic crackdown on The Post’s October 2020 reveal of Hunter Biden’s laptop as a sensational story.
Tesla’s chief executive officer has a history of uprooting his companies from California following disputes with the state’s corporate restrictions.
The previous year, he relocated Tesla’s headquarters from the Bay Area to Austin, Texas, after openly criticizing California lawmakers for mandating COVID laws that required companies to close facilities.
Republican Texas Governor Greg Abbott stated that the Lone Star State would welcome Twitter with open arms if Musk decided to relocate the company there.
Musk has made no secret of his dislike for the political leanings of the Bay Area.

Twitter, which was launched in 2006 in San Francisco, has been located on Market Street in the Civic Center district since 2011. The lease on its 379,000-square-foot headquarters expires in 2028, according to the San Francisco Standard.
The Post has reached out to Musk for comment.
A representative for Breed told Bloomberg, “Our Department of Building Inspection is mandated to investigate all complaints and determine if any violations have occurred.”
It is a fundamental government obligation.
A spokesman for the Department of Structure Inspection in San Francisco stated that officials needed to “ensure that the building is being used as intended.”
Musk moved the headquarters of his electric car startup Tesla from the Bay Area to Texas one year ago.
“Different building code requirements apply to residential properties, including those used for short-term stays,” stated department spokesman Patrick Hannan in a statement.
No one is above the law; everyone in San Francisco deserves a safe place to live, work, play, and sleep.
Forbes was the first to disclose the existence of the converted rooms.
According to a November article by The Post, Twitter employee Esther Crawford was spotted in a sleeping bag at the company’s headquarters.
