Martyrs Day, June 20, was celebrated with patriotic zeal throughout the country and by Diaspora Eritreans.
President Isaias Afwerki lay a wreath at the Asmara Martyrs Cemetery this morning in a ceremony with minimal attendance.
At 1 p.m., the Eritrean people, led by National Radio and Eritrean Television, observed a one-minute silence in commemoration of Eritrean Martyrs.
Similarly, a candlelight vigil in memory of Eritrean Martyrs was held around the country yesterday, June 19, in accordance with the criteria established to combat the development of the COVID-19 pandemic.
