Eskom stated on Thursday that it would commence Stage 6 load shedding beginning at midday and continuing until further notice.
“This is due to a high number of breakdowns since midnight, as well as the requirement to strictly preserve the remaining emergency generation reserves,” a short statement by the power utility read.
This follows Eskom’s decision to put the nation into Stage 4 on Wednesday.
The state-owned electric provider said that it would issue a complete statement in due time.
