Former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, has strongly criticized Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi for their comments regarding the phone conversation between United States Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, and President-elect Bola Tinubu.
The PDP and LP presidential candidates for the 2023 election expressed their disapproval of the US government’s engagement with Tinubu to strengthen ties with Nigeria.
Atiku, in a statement on Wednesday, argued that Blinken’s call to Tinubu contradicts the publicly stated position of the US government on Nigeria’s 2023 presidential election.
Similarly, Obi, in a statement on Friday, questioned the clarity of the phone conversation between Blinken and Tinubu, suggesting that the United States should have waited for the resolution of ongoing judicial processes before acknowledging Tinubu’s legitimacy.
Fani-Kayode took to Twitter to respond to their reactions, describing the way both presidential candidates addressed the US Secretary’s call to Tinubu as pitiful.
He urged Atiku and Obi to stop lamenting about the phone conversation and move forward.
In his tweet, Fani-Kayode expressed his disappointment, stating that the two candidates should show resilience and accept the situation instead of behaving like jilted lovers who cannot bear the thought of their love interest talking to someone new.
He concluded his message by saying, “O ma se o!” which can be interpreted as advising them to stop making a fuss.
It appears that Fani-Kayode believes that Atiku and Obi should handle the situation with more maturity and focus on other matters rather than dwelling on the phone conversation between Blinken and Tinubu.
