Sarah “Fergie” Ferguson, the Duchess of York, revealed on “The Kelly Clarkson Show” how she and Princess Diana were arrested during her “hen party” or bachelorette bash before her 1986 wedding to Prince Andrew. The pair decided to dress up as police officers and visit a nightclub.
However, they were asked to leave by the waiter who said, “this is a members club. It’s for fun, and we don’t serve police officers here.” They were then arrested by the police, who thought that they were impersonating the police.
The duo was taken into custody in the back of a van, and once the officers realized who they were, they were allowed to go free.
The Princess of Wales forgot she was in costume and ate “smoky bacon flavored crisps” in the police van, causing an officer to shout at her. Diana had married Prince Charles in 1981 and divorced him in 1996.
She and Ferguson shared a close bond, and the Duchess of York affectionately called her “Duch.” They laughed and got into trouble a lot. In a 2021 People interview, Ferguson denied rumors of any feud with Diana.
Ferguson and Prince Andrew divorced in 1996 but have remained friends. They share two daughters, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie. The 63-year-old Duchess of York also revealed that Diana would tell her the worst joke stories just before she had to be serious.
