After being wounded by a lightning rod atop a 120-foot radio tower above an elementary school in MacClenny, Florida, an eagle is now safe.
Fox 13 reported that firefighters from the MacClenny Fire Rescue Department assisted wildlife officials in rescuing the eagle.
“Great work, gentlemen. We are incredibly proud of you and that was an incredible call. What a memory to have been so close to the American symbol of freedom!” read MFRD’s social media post.
When workers arrived at the location, they ascended to a height of 100 feet.
The engineer was then had to attach himself to the tower in order to ascend the last 20 feet.
Once liberated from the rod, the eagle flew to the ground, where wildlife rescuers assured its safety.
