According to a new investigation, Rep.-elect George Santos’ mostly fabricated personal biography has been found to contain further obvious frauds, including his attendance at a top Bronx prep school.
Santos claimed he attended Horace Mann in the most recent batch of newly disclosed fabrications, but the top private school has no record of the 34-year-old Long Island politician ever enrolling.
In a campaign biography from his unsuccessful 2019 congressional bid, Santos stated, “He began Horace Mann preparatory school in the Bronx, but did not graduate due to his family’s financial hardships.”
In a 2020 interview, Santos expanded on the rumor that the 2008 financial crisis led his parents to pull him out of school.
“They put me to a good prep school in the Bronx, which was Horace Mann Prep. And, regrettably, during my senior year of prep school, my parents fell on hard times, which became known as the Great Recession of 2008,” Santos alleged on the “Police Off the Cuff After Hours” show.
George Santos claimed to have attended Horace Mann, but the private institution has no trace of him in its database.

The politician who lied claims he had to quit school owing to financial difficulties.

“The overleverage of real estate hit us a bit earlier than anticipated. And the market began to collapse. Um, and the preparatory school was eliminated first. At that moment, you cannot afford a $2,500 tuition, right? Also, I quit school four months before graduation,” he continued.
Wednesday’s CNN article indicates that this story does not hold water.
Ed Adler, a spokesman for the Horace Mann school, told CNN that there is no evidence that George Santos (under any identity) attended the institution.
In subsequent years, Santos is said to have told other untruths, which were found by the news organization.
Santos told a New York-based podcast in the summer that he publicly lambasted Goldman Sachs at a conference while he was an employee of the Wall Street behemoth, a role he misrepresented to The Post on Monday.
“Have you ever heard of a Goldman Sachs employee criticizing their company on stage at the greatest private equity conference — SALT, run by Anthony Scaramucci? “Indeed, I did it,” Santos stated on a podcast.
“I did so in a manner consistent with renewable energy and global warming. I was participating at this panel. And they’re all talking about solar and wind energy, but that was what, seven years ago? I responded, “You know what? This is a scam.” It is government dollars that are used for subsidies.”
There is no record of Santos attending one of Scaramucci’s conferences, Scaramucci told CNN.
Santos also falsely claimed that his family’s Jewish name was Zabrovsky, which he exploited to raise money for an animal welfare organization.
“We do not have a Ukrainian surname. In the name of survival, many descendants of World War II refugees and Holocaust survivors have had their names and documentation altered. Therefore, I do not have the surname that would have been Zabrovsky. Santos told Fox News digital in February, “I carry my mother’s maiden name, which represents the Dutch half of the family.”
CNN’s professional genealogist discovered “no hint of Jewish or Ukrainian ancestry or name changes along the way.”
Santos also claimed in a December 2020 radio interview that his mother “fled socialism in Europe” and in another 2020 interview that she came to the United States from Belgium, although genealogical records analyzed by the news organization indicate that Santos’ mother was born in Brazil.
The Republican district attorney for Nassau County stated on Wednesday that her office was investigating newly-elected Republican congressman George Santos after he revealed to The Post earlier in the week that he had faked several of his former life claims.
DA Anne Donnelly said in a statement, “The multiple fabrications and contradictions associated with Congressman-elect Santos are nothing short of astounding.” Donnelly continued, “The residents of Nassau County and the rest of the Third Congressional District must have an honest and accountable congressman.”
She continued, “No one is above the law, and if a crime was committed in this county, it will be prosecuted.”
