Gombe: Corps members to benefit from health insurance scheme

Chairman Medical Advisory Committee, Federal Teaching Hospital Gombe, Dr.

Essien Abdulrazak, said the National Health Insurance Scheme is now ready to take care of Corps members in the state throughout the orientation course and the service year.

He made this known on Friday, during an interactive session with the State Coordinator, NYSC Gombe, Mrs.

Ada Imoni.

The interaction took place at the NYSC Temporary Orientation Camp Amada, Gombe State.

According to him, while the medical team treats Corps members, it would, however, only give consultation to camp officials.

Abdulrazak said, “As soon as a prospective corps member picks up a Call-up letter, which is the instrument that qualifies him or her for admittance into national service, he is covered until the end of his service.

“After the disengagement from service his or her medical needs are taken care of through the National Health Insurance Scheme.

“A big kudos to the Federal Government for the recent enrollment of corps members into the NHIS.

The State Coordinator NYSC Gombe, Ada Imoni commended the effort of the team for the work done so far and promised to give them the necessary assistance they require.

Imoni lauded the Federal Government’s interventions in prioritising the health of corps members in the state.

She said, “On behalf of the Director-General of the NYSC, Major General Shuaibu Ibrahim, I want to appreciate the interaction and we shall be having such meetings in the course of the orientation course.
