Greater Manchester Police Crack Down on Dangerous Dogs: 15 Dogs Seized Following Fatal Attack

A tragic incident in Leigh, Greater Manchester, resulted in the death of a 37-year-old man, Jonathan Hogg, who was fatally attacked by a dog.

Described by his family as a “well-loved, sensitive, and kind person,” Hogg suffered serious injuries and later passed away in the hospital.

As part of the investigation into the attack, Greater Manchester Police (GMP) seized 15 dogs, including six adult dogs and nine puppies, suspected to be of the same breed as the one involved in the attack.

Two individuals were arrested in connection with the incident.

On Friday, a 24-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of being in charge of a dangerously out-of-control dog causing injury resulting in death.

Later that evening, a 22-year-old woman was also arrested on suspicion of money laundering.

Detective Chief Inspector John Davies provided details on the police’s actions, stating that two houses were searched, and the seized dogs are currently under the care of a specialized facility.

Additionally, items with an estimated value of £37,500, believed to be the proceeds of criminal activity, were also seized.

DCI Davies emphasized that dangerous dogs have no place in communities and reassured the public that the police are committed to ensuring safety.

He urged anyone with information about individuals breeding or owning dogs that pose a risk to report it online or call 101.

Following Mr. Hogg’s untimely passing, his family released a tribute expressing their love for him and their gratitude for the outpouring of support they have received.

They requested privacy during this difficult time as they come to terms with their loss.
