According to a report, the sound engineer who was allegedly assaulted by Travis Scott at club Nebula said that the rapper’s security guard threatened to kill him after the attack.
The victim, a 52-year-old man identified only as Mark, said that he cannot move his neck after the 30-year-old performer allegedly punched him inside the club around 2 a.m. on Wednesday.
In a bedside interview with Fox 5 New York, Mark said that he was trying to help Scott by telling him to lower the volume of the music so that it sounded good for the performance.
However, the rapper stuck his middle finger in Mark’s face, and when Mark lowered the monitor to talk to him, Scott allegedly attacked him.
Mark added that instead of calming Scott down, his security guard threatened his life by saying, “Are you f–king crazy? I’m gonna kill you.”
Scott was at the club to perform alongside rapper Don Toliver, who is signed to his label, but he grew angry about the sound system, which Mark and other sources said was distorted due to the high volume.
Before attacking Mark, Scott allegedly pushed a DJ.
Video obtained by Page Six shows Scott yelling at the DJ to “back the f–k up” before he shoves him away.
The rapper is also accused of throwing a fan’s phone and damaging $12,000 worth of equipment, including an audio speaker and video screen, at the Midtown club.
Mark said he doesn’t understand why Scott acted out against the people who were there to support him and added that these were people who respect him and want what’s best for him.
Scott’s lawyer called the altercation a clear misunderstanding and said he was “confident our client will be cleared of any wrongdoing.” The lawyer is reportedly working with the NYPD to find a time for Scott to turn himself in. However, Scott is still set to perform at the Rolling Loud hip-hop festival in Los Angeles this Saturday.
