Helen Coulston’s husband faces gun charges after being stabbed by a friend

The husband of a lady who reportedly had her chest slashed outside of their Sydney house has been accused of having a pistol in his possession.

This week, Walt Coulston was charged with four crimes involving weapons and ammunition after police reportedly discovered a gun in his 4.5 million dollar Dover Heights property in the city’s eastern suburbs.

The father of two was accused of having an unregistered weapon, ammunition without a license, failing to store a firearm correctly, and possessing a shortened handgun.

On October 11, his case will be brought up at Waverley Local Court.

It happened on August 8, nearly two months ago, when his closest buddy Matthew Brian Ramsay visited them at home and stabbed Helen Coulston in the chest with a 20-cm knife.

On September 2, Matthew Brian Ramsay, 46, appeared by audio-visual connection at Waverley Local Court on a charge of inflicting a wound or great bodily injury with the intent to kill.

Ramsay reportedly visited Mr. Coulston’s house when his wife was at home by herself.

The court heard that he is accused of stabbing the mother-of-two in the chest before swinging at her again but missing.

A tradesman working on a construction site across the street intervened in the pair’s violent brawl after that. Then, apparently, Ramsay took off.

Ramsay was allegedly caught on bodycam saying to police: “I didn’t plan to injure her, I just meant to terrify her” after being apprehended at a bail hearing.

The court was informed that the 46-year-old had taken 120mg of Valium before the alleged event. The recommended dosage is 40 mg.

When Ms. Coulston was taken out of the ambulance, her arm was purportedly in a sling and she was drenched in blood. She is healing after surviving the event.

A little while later, Mr. Ramsay was detained at the Bondi Beach traffic lights on Campbell Parade.

An officer seems to be brandishing a pistol at the 46-year-old in the arrest video while shouting at him to “get down on the ground.”

The father of one has a history of “severe mental health concerns,” according to the court, and has already spent a lot of time in treatment.

The court granted bail because he thought the stringent conditions would reduce any danger to the public or the accused victim.

He told Ramsay to stay away from the Coulsons and to avoid the eastern suburbs until he was in court.
