At gunpoint, five guys in a Hyundai Sonata kidnapped a bakkie from a Pakistani man.
The bakkie was stopped on the Mabopane Highway at the Ruth First Street off-ramp by personnel of the Tshwane Metro Police Department (TMPD) Region 1 Sector 1.
The driver of the bakkie was apprehended. When the other four suspects noticed the bakkie they had kidnapped had been halted by the TMPD, they drove away.
The suspects abandoned the Hyundai at Soshanguve Block L and escaped on foot as the officers pursued them.
The officers were successful in apprehending one suspect.
Officers inspected the vehicle they were driving and discovered three firearms, one of which was a Glock comparable to the TMPD’s duty handgun.
The other two weapons are handguns used by the South African Police Service (SAPS).
There will be more gun investigations in the future.
The Hyundai will also be examined to see whether it has been linked to any other crimes.
Two individuals were detained for hijacking, pointing a firearm, and possessing illegal firearms when the kidnapped bakkie was found. The search for the three unidentified suspects will continue.
Congratulations to the members of the Tshwane Metropolitan Police Department for their hard work and dedication as we continue to clean up Tshwane.
