Hunter Biden has added to his legal team a prominent Washington defense attorney whose clients include a who’s who of disgraced politicians, as House Republicans seek to investigate his overseas business dealings as early as next month.
Abbe Lowell will be responsible for coordinating the 52-year-old Hunter’s defense throughout the congressional investigations that will commence once Republicans take control of the House.
“Hunter Biden has retained Abbe Lowell to counsel him and serve as a member of his legal team to address the problems he has,” Kevin Morris, another of Hunter Biden’s attorneys, said NBC News, which originally reported Lowell’s hiring.
Morris continued, “Lowell is a well-known Washington-based attorney who has represented numerous public officials and high-profile individuals in DOJ investigations, trials, and Congressional inquiries.” Mr. Lowell will be responsible for congressional investigations and overall strategic counsel.
Throughout the impeachment hearings of former President Bill Clinton, he served as chief minority counsel for the House. He also represented Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner during congressional and FBI investigations into Russian connections.
Lowell defended renowned Democrats John Edwards and Bob Menendez successfully against federal corruption allegations.
