This mother might give birth while sleeping.
Beccaa Areli slept through her contractions and gave birth in the car en route to the hospital.
The 18-second clip she uploaded to TikTok about her “craziest experience ever” had nearly six million views.
The clip is a brief montage of the birth and preceding circumstances.
The film depicts Areli’s pregnancy shower, her enormous baby belly, her new family member, and a swarm of paramedics surrounding her as she gives birth in her car.
In a separate TikTok, Areli elaborated on her extraordinary experience.
She began, “I had my baby shower, created the balloon arch, and was going up and down the stairs, which induced labor.”
The following day, Areli went to her grandmother’s house and began experiencing labor pains, which she initially mistook for Braxton Hicks. Braxton-Hicks contractions are abdominal cramping that are frequently misinterpreted for labor contractions.
She went to sleep and chose to disregard the discomfort.
“I told no one, and the next morning I was simply keeping track of time…
“When my baby daddy went to work, I took a hot bath, which dilated me and accelerated my contractions,” the influencer explained.
Areli then informed her mother that she believed she was in labor, but because she was unsure, her mother informed her that the hospital would likely send her home.
“I said, ‘Mom, we really need to leave!’” I texted my sister and said, “Please come get me, we have to go” since she wasn’t listening to me. Areli recalled.
Areli’s sister arrived to transport her to the hospital.
Areli said, “When she returns home, we all leave, and as we were leaving, I experienced a severe contraction and felt [my baby] coming.”
While in the car, Areli felt the impending birth of her child.
Areli stated, “I felt the urge to defecate, so I pulled down my pants, and my baby’s head came out.”
Areli’s water broke, and she gave birth to a child. The infant was caught by Areli’s sister as she flew out the door, although she nearly lost her balance in the process.
When the family of Areli summoned an ambulance, the paramedics asked if they had anything that might be used to cut the umbilical chord. They were able to cut the cable with a phone charger before help arrived.
Viewers were astonished by her account and praised her for her “courage” in enduring the labor.
“You are so strong, omg!” gushed one user. “You are so courageous, mama,” wrote another. “This is so terrifying I’m relieved your child is safe.”
Someone person chimed up, “What a tale to tell her when she’s older!”
Someone else remarked, “This is such a wild pregnancy! Congratulations, girl!”
