I tried 6 viral beauty hacks shared by Huda Beauty. Here are 2 I loved and 4 that I’ll never use again

Before applying it with a brush, the first beauty tip I wanted to attempt was immersing my foundation in water.

I normally apply two small pumps of Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless foundation to my face as part of my cosmetic regimen. I place a small amount on the back of my hand and apply it with my middle finger before blending the product throughout my face.

Kattan uploaded a video in June demonstrating a viral makeup hack in which foundation is pumped into a glass of water before being applied with a makeup brush. Kattan claims in the video, which has received more than 172,500 likes, that the procedure is intended to provide “the longest-lasting application” and “make your skin look more beautiful.”

Kattan utilized Huda Beauty’s FauxFilter foundation in the video, which I also own and find to provide complete coverage and a matte look.

In light of this, I was excited to try the hack, especially because my coverage doesn’t last all day.

The viral approach caused the foundation to adhere to my brush, and the addition of water made application more challenging.

I discovered that the foundation adhered instantly to my brush and did not allow me to gradually develop coverage. The water also spilled down my face, making it difficult to combine the product, so I let it dry beforehand.

Once the foundation on my skin had dried, it had become too matte and dry to blend with a sponge. Using a separate instrument than the one covered in the foundation is unquestionably the best strategy, but the drying mixture still makes this challenging to deal with.

After dabbing it on with the brush, I used my fingers to blend it, which was slightly easier but, in my opinion, not worth the additional time and effort. I wear a full-coverage foundation, yet this technique still highlighted my skin flaws.

Kattan stated that the technique is effective, increases luminosity, and decreases transfer, but is also complex and inefficient. I disliked it.

Kattan saw “a touch” of brightness on the side of her face where she used water and “very little” transfer after attempting the hack.

She remarked in the video, “I do think this works, but I find it a little difficult, a little nasty, and a little wasteful.”

I concur that there was less transfer because the process was so drying, but my skin seemed drab and textured as a result. Also soaked in foundation were the glass and brush I used. As Kattan stated, this was extremely wasteful and time-consuming to clean up.

Kattan also suggests that her followers apply concealer in an F-shape under their eyes and around the side of their nose.

As a beauty tip, the author applies F-shaped concealer to her face.

In June, Kattan posted a video on Instagram demonstrating the “simplest method to a snatched face.” Kattan draws an F-shape with concealer beneath her eye and to the side of her nose, then blends it out with a sponge and sets it with powder. I utilized this procedure on one side of my face and my usual haphazard technique on the other.

The suggestion was straightforward and not dissimilar to what I normally use, however it would be better for those with excellent skin, as it only lightened the affected region and left the rest of my skin uncovered. I use Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer to conceal a few acne scars. Keeping this in mind, the hack works, but it’s not ideal for my skin’s requirements.

I loved Kattan’s suggestion to apply a little triangle of concealer beside your nostrils to prevent creases.

Adding a triangle of concealer was intended to prevent smile line creases.

In May, I viewed a lesson video Kattan posted to Instagram demonstrating how a small amount of concealer may prevent smile wrinkles from causing concealer to crease. At the time of writing, the procedure in the video, which has over 143,700 likes, appeared straightforward and the difference was immediately apparent.

Using my concealer brush, I formed a little triangle next to each nostril, aiming towards my ears, and set it with powder. This took me only a minute, and I immediately felt a change throughout the day.

Kattan endorsed the technique of applying highlight and contour to the same cosmetics brush and pulling it down the bridge of the nose for immediate definition.

In August, Kattan posted an Instagram video of her nose contouring with a single motion, which earned over 66,000 likes and immediately drew my attention. I’m a huge admirer of sculpting my nose and cheekbones, so I was eager to try this time-saving trick.

In the video, Kattan expressed skepticism before attempting it and tried to make it work effectively. She immediately realized that she needed to put the product to a mixing plate beforehand in order to achieve success, and she did so with great results.

Kattan added in the clip, “I would still contour my nose the way I want to contour it, but that did work.” She remarked that it could be an excellent technique for novices with calm hands.

I was doubtful that using eyeshadow as a long-lasting lip liner would work because it appeared to be fairly drying, but Kattan remarked it was “really gorgeous.”

In August, Kattan captured my interest with an Instagram video of her experimenting with eyeshadow as a substitute for lip liner. The video, which has over 68,000 likes, depicts Kattan using a flat brush to apply dark eyeshadow around the perimeter of her mouth, followed by lipstick.

In the video, she explained, “This makes sense because eyeshadow is more powdery, but lip liners tend to be quite thick, so this can effect how long one lasts.” After completing the hack, Kattan remarked that she adored its appearance and that it was “very lovely.”

I used eyeshadow palettes by Huda Beauty to recreate the method.

As Kattan claimed, using eyeshadow as a lip liner was really stunning. It quickly became my favorite hack, and I will continue to use it.

For precision, I lined my lips with the hue Henna from Huda Beauty’s Rose Gold Remastered eye palette using a flat eyeshadow brush. To complete the look, I applied a purple-toned Huda Beauty lipstick, and I loved what I saw.

By experimenting with the eyeshadow palettes you already possess, it is possible to create new color combinations without spending a dime. As Kattan predicted, I discovered that the powdered consistency remained on my lips longer than the normal creamy lip liner.

I was terrified by the Kattan-approved makeup tip of using black eyeliner to outline your lips, and the result was as terrible as I had anticipated.

I was surprised that Kattan tried and appreciated using black eyeliner as a lip liner for red lipstick, as she has a tendency to give both essential and ludicrous cosmetic tips.

Kattan appeared uncertain about the fad in a May Instagram video, but finally found success with it. “It’s a little theatrical with the red, but it’s kind of seductive,” she observed, adding that, with a little blending, it looked fantastic.

Even before I applied the red lipstick, I felt stupid wearing the black lip liner because it is not something I would normally do.

The most daring cosmetic trick I tried was using eyeliner as a lip liner, but not even Chanel lipstick could save its appearance.

After applying the black edge around my lips, I used a red Chanel lipstick to match Kattan’s colors. I then used a lip brush to blend the corners and reduce any hard lines, but this didn’t make it look any better in my opinion.

The look was dramatic, but I resembled a clown wearing face paint rather than a woman of striking beauty. I came to the conclusion that someone with a different skin tone or larger lips would complement the hack better.

This sixth and last beauty tip made me understand that simplicity may be better for my beauty routine.
