Duration of the Programme UNIPORT IITD
The duration of the PGD and MSc programmes is twelve calendar months. There is a minimum of 24 calendar months and a maximum of 60 calendar months for the Ph.D.
UNIPORT IITD Admission Requirements
PGD Programme in International Trade and Development: Candidates must hold a good honours degree in one of the following disciplines from an accredited university: Economics, Political Science, Accounting, Finance, Management, Marketing, History, Geography, or a related field, or Law with a minimum of a Third Class. Those who have earned a Higher National Diploma (HND) from a recognized institution with a minimum of an upper credit are also eligible for admission.
M.Sc. Programme in International Trade and Development: Applicants must hold a Bachelor’s degree with Second Class Honours in Economics, Political Science, Finance, Foreign Languages, Accounting, History, Marketing, Management, Geography, or a related discipline or Law from an accredited university. However, candidates with at least five years of work experience in a trade-related area and a degree in a field not listed above may also be considered for admission to the program. A minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.50 on a five-point scale from the University of Port Harcourt or other institutions recognized by the Senate.
M.Sc. Programme in Customs Administration/Border Management, Ports Management and Maritime Administration and Shipping and Maritime Security: Applicants must hold an excellent bachelor’s degree in any discipline of the Social Sciences or Management Sciences. In addition, a degree from a renowned university in an area of the arts or humanities, such as History, International Relations, or Law, with a minimum grade point average of 2.75 on a 5-point scale, will be considered.
A bachelor’s degree in Education or Business with at least seven years of relevant job experience in Customs, Immigration, the Navy, the Nigerian Port Authority, or other trade-related industry. A Bachelor’s degree with a third-class honors in any of the aforementioned disciplines and evidence of a postgraduate diploma in comparable fields will be considered. Higher National Diploma with a minimum of Upper Credit in a relevant subject of study and evidence of a Postgraduate Diploma will be considered.
Doctoral Degree Program in Trade and Development Finance: Candidates must hold a Master of Science in International Trade and Development from the Institute with a minimum 3.50 GPA. Applicants with a 3.50 GPA in Economics, Marketing, Management, Accounting, International Finance, International Relations, or Mathematics will also be considered for admission.
