In Korea, the award-winning “Squid Game” actor O Yeong-su has been charged with sexual misconduct.
AFP reported that the 78-year-old was freed without imprisonment after being accused of sexually touching a lady in 2017.
In December 2021, the woman initially filed a complaint against Yeong-su. The case, which had been closed by police in April, was reopened after the claimed victim requested more investigation.
According to the local Yonhap news agency, when questioned by authorities, Yeong-su denied the allegations.
The actor, who won a Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actor for his breakthrough performance as Oh Il-nam in the Netflix hit, has released a statement regarding the allegations.
“I simply guided her around the lake by holding her hand,” O told the Korean television network JTBC. “I apologized because [the person] claimed she wouldn’t make a big deal out of it, but that doesn’t mean I accept the claims.”
The Korean Netflix series “Squid Game” features Lee Jung-jae, Park Hae-soo, and Oh Yeong-soo in a scene.

According to a representative of the Suwon District Prosecutor’s Office, nothing revealed by local media regarding the actor with more than 50 years of experience “is factually false.”
After the indictment, the Korean ministry of culture has recently withdrew a government television advertisement starring Yeong-su from air.
In the future, the immensely popular survival drama on the streaming service will return for a second season.
Last year, writer and director Hwang Dong-hyuk confirmed the news in an interview with the Associated Press.
Hwang stated, “There has been a great deal of pressure, desire, and affection for a second season. So it’s almost as if you leave us with no option!”
