The confrontation took place in the Monguno Local Government Area of the state and involved the Sector 3 multi-national joint task force (MNJTF).
Some of the insurgents rode on motorcycles while others approached on foot, targeting the troops stationed at Charlie 6 in Monguno town.
The target of this operation was bandits who had fled from the far north and were attempting to set up camp around villages in Kagarko.
The clashes with ISWAP fighters and the successful raid on bandits’ hideouts are examples of the military’s intensified operations to maintain peace and security in the affected areas.
