Skin flick emblem After being judged unable to stand trial on rape and other accusations, Ron Jeremy has been admitted to a state mental health institute in California.
Tuesday, Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office spokesperson Greg Risling said that Jeremy, 69, whose true name is Ron Jeremy Hyatt, might be imprisoned for up to two years.
An evaluation of the work of the 5-foot-6 actor is set for May 8.
Jeremy has pled not guilty to 30 counts of rape and other sexual misconduct arising from 23-year-old occurrences in the Los Angeles region.
Jeremy was deemed unable to assist in his defense by Superior Court Judge Ronald Harris in January, according to his attorney Stuart Goldfarb, who did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Reuters on Tuesday.
“When he was arrested two years ago, I predicted he would be exonerated of all charges,” Goldfarb told The Associated Press in an email earlier this month.
“Two years have gone, and based on the new information I obtained, I assumed he would be declared innocent. “It is unfortunate that he will not go to trial and have the chance to clear his name due to his mental condition,” he continued.
The judge concluded that Jeremy has “incurable neurocognitive decline” from which he is unlikely to recover after reviewing reports from both the prosecution and his defense.
Jeremy has been incarcerated since his arrest in 2020.
According to the transcripts of grand jury testimony from his 21 claimed victims, ages 15 to 51, Jeremy would pull them into a tiny location, sometimes the restroom of a West Hollywood club, and sexually assault them.
Known for his public appearances, reality shows, and music videos, Jeremy, sometimes known as “The Hedgehog,” has been one of the most well-known porn performers for decades
