TIP-OFF IS VERY IMPORTANT IN REECOVERY OF MOTORCYCLES
According to Captain Ben Matimulane, the station’s spokesperson, the police were tipped off and prevented the motorcyclists from crossing the border.
“Last day, Ivory Park SAPS crime prevention unit officers detained a 33-year-old man for having two stolen motorcycles. He was accused of possessing stolen stuff, according to Matimulane.
He continued by saying that the motorbikes, which had been reported stolen in accordance with Ivory Park SAPS cases, had been disassembled, wrapped in plastic, and prepared for shipping to Mozambique, the suspect’s country of origin, at the time of their recovery.
It is impossible to overstate the significance of tp-offs like this one because they are a powerful tool for controlling crime and criminals.
Brigadier David Mbongeni Ngcobo, station commander for the SAPS in Ivory Park
These motorbikes, the most of which are used for business purposes, would have permanently crossed the border, according to him, “leaving owners without a source of earning a living,” said Ngcobo.
Suspect due in court in Tanzania
Tomorrow, the suspect will show up in Tembisa Magistrate’s Court to address the charges brought against him.
Ivory Park police have already pounced on a man in possession of stolen motorcycles.
Seven people were apprehended by police in Ivory Park last month while stripping allegedly hijacked motorcycles.
This was also made possible by an anonymous tip that enabled the police to quickly apprehend the numerous suspects who were discovered on July 17th in possession of three motorcycles that had been taken hostage as well as other stolen goods.
Maitumulane emphasised the significance of any crime tip-offs once more.
He ended by saying, “Anyone with information on any crime is encouraged to call the crime stop number at 08600 10111.
