Jake Hescock, a former UCF and Wisconsin tight end, died at the age of 25 due to heart arrest, according to several accounts.
Sunday, Hescock suffered a heart attack while jogging in Boston, according to the Orlando Sentinel. A passerby attempted CPR before transporting him to the hospital, where he was placed on life support.
According to his family’s social media posts, Hescock suffered significant brain injuries before passing suddenly.
“It is with a heavy heart that I must report that my cousin Jake has passed away,” Hescock’s cousin Lisa Walz Mlynarczyk said on Facebook. “May he rest in peace and his bright soul forever illuminate us.”
Following the announcement of his passing, his former teammates and coaches expressed their condolences.
UCF head coach Gus Malzahn posted on Twitter, “We are devastated to learn about Jake’s loss.” “He was an extraordinary individual who exemplified what it means to be a UCF Knight. Everyone who knew Jake adored him, and coaching him was a pleasure. He will be missed dearly. Kristie and I are praying for his entire family.”

The football program of Wisconsin, where Hescock began his collegiate career, also tweeted an homage.
“I am saddened by the demise of former Badger Jake Hescock. Taken too soon from us. Our condolences go out to his family and friends,” the post stated.
The quarterback scores a touchdown.
Hescock was born in Pittsfield, Massachusetts. He wore a redshirt with Wisconsin before transferring to UCF. He graduated during the 2021 season, having caught 21 passes for a total of six touchdowns.
