John Curtiss returns to the mound

On Sunday, a few notable occurrences occurred during the Mets’ spring training. One highlight was John Curtiss’ return to the mound, marking his first appearance since undergoing Tommy John surgery. In his outing, he pitched a scoreless eighth inning with two strikeouts, helping the Mets secure a 6-3 exhibition victory over the Nationals at Clover Park.

On the other hand, Elieser Hernandez, who had been recently traded to the Mets from the Marlins, struggled in his debut game.

He allowed one earned run on three hits and two walks over two innings. Hernandez is being considered for the multi-inning relief role that Trevor Williams held last season.

During the game, Ronny Mauricio caught the attention of spectators with his impressive performance.

He hit a monstrous home run and displayed his skills as a shortstop by making a smooth double play on a grounder in the ninth inning.

Looking ahead, David Peterson is scheduled to be the Mets’ starting pitcher on Monday as they take on the Cardinals in Jupiter, Florida.
