With former Proteas great JP Duminy in the limelight as the head coach for the first SA20 competition, the Paarl Royals coaching staff will have a local flavour.
In the eagerly awaited series, Duminy, who leads South Africa in runs scored in T20 Internationals, will begin his coaching career. The 38-year-old just accepted his first head coaching role with the neighbourhood Gbets Rocks team after serving as the Lions’ batting coordinator last season.
With Titans head coach Mandla Mashimbyi as his bowling coach, Richard das Neves as his spin bowling coach, and Mark Charlton as his batting coach, he will now enter the SA20 competition right away.
Before joining the Titans, Das Neves served as the head coach of Easterns and was a member of the coaching staff in Hong Kong.
Jos Buttler, the captain of England’s white-ball team, and Proteas great David Miller have already signed with the Royals.
Prior to next week’s first SA20 auction, the Royal team also includes uncapped Corbin Bosch and left-arm seamer Obey McCoy of the West Indies.
