K Gallery hosts ‘Layers’ exhibition

Sheikh Tahnoun bin Zayed Al Nahyan, National Security Adviser, and Founder of the Khawla Art and Culture Foundation, hosted an exhibition titled “Layers”, showcasing the Arabic calligraphy artwork of Emirati artist, Diaa Allam.
Curated by Sheikha Fatima bint Tahnoun bin Zayed Al Nahyan, in cooperation with the foundation, the exhibition is taking place in line with the vision of Sheikha Khawla to support and empower young Emirati talents, showcase their artistic abilities, and highlight the aesthetic aspects of Arabic calligraphy.
Running throughout February, the exhibition includes 12 artworks created by Allam that combine certain colours and various geometrical shapes to create unique optical illusions.
In an exclusive statement to the Emirates News Agency (WAM), Sheikha Khawla said that the exhibition spotlights the key role of the foundation in showcasing and supporting Emirati artists, and highlighting the aesthetics of Arabic calligraphy.
She also underlined the pivotal role art plays as a form of communication between various peoples and cultures and promoting the UAE’s as a global hub for culture, creativity and fostering talent.
Dr.
Lamees Al Qaisi, Director of the Foundation, said the event aims to enhance the community’s knowledge about the various forms of art.
Allam expressed his happiness and pride at participating in the exhibition, especially as it is his first time showcasing his 3D Arabic calligraphy artworks.
