Kamala Harris Criticizes Ron DeSantis’ Dismissal of Ukraine Conflict as a ‘Territorial Dispute

In a recent late-night interview, Kamala Harris criticized Florida Governor Ron DeSantis for his dismissal of the war in Ukraine as a ‘territorial dispute.’

When asked about her role as vice president, Harris laughed off the question and compared parts of her job to the HBO sitcom Veep.

She claimed her duties included attending international events like the Munich Security Conference, where she declared Russia’s invasion of Ukraine to be ‘crimes against humanity.’

DeSantis, who is expected to join the 2024 Republican presidential race, has drawn criticism from Ukraine’s foreign ministry for his comments on the conflict.

He argues that the U.S. should not provide assistance that could require the deployment of American troops or enable Ukraine to engage in offensive operations beyond its borders.

This position puts him in line with former President Donald Trump, who has long been skeptical of Ukraine.

As the presidential field takes shape, Harris continues to campaign for the Biden-Harris ticket and is set to visit Iowa for the first time since taking office.

Meanwhile, Republicans in Congress are demanding more scrutiny for the $113 billion in aid sent to Kyiv last year, with some arguing that the U.S. should prioritize domestic issues and the growing threat from China.

Despite these differing opinions, the conflict in Ukraine remains a pressing issue with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky calling for more support from the U.S. and its allies.

A Pew poll conducted in January showed declining support for supporting the war among Republicans, with 40% of Republicans and Republican-leaning independents believing that the U.S. is providing too much help.
