Kari Lake files a complaint in Maricopa County, alleging violations of election laws

Republican candidate for governor of Arizona Kari Lake has launched a lawsuit against Maricopa County election authorities, saying that they violated election laws. Lake also said that 118 voting locations looked to have a “printer/tabulation difficulty,” despite the fact that authorities had previously stated that 60 polling locations had printing problems that were resolved before the polls closed.

Ten days ago, Katie Hobbs, the current secretary of state of Arizona and a Democrat, was predicted to win the election. Lake, a staunch supporter of former President Donald Trump who has refused to surrender the 2020 election to President Joe Biden, has not officially conceded the campaign for governor.

Lake announced the lawsuit on Steve Bannon’s podcast “War Room” on Wednesday, describing the 2022 election as “the worst election in history.”

Lake stated, “Information is required.” When it comes to contesting this failed election, we are on a strict schedule, yet they are dragging their feet.

On Election Day, Bill Gates, chairman of the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors, said that 60 polling locations experienced printing difficulties that were resolved before polls closed. Gates stated at the time that the printer problem was technical — the ink was not black enough to make the machines readable.

However, Lake claimed in his complaint that “because to printer/tabulator issues, polling sites were chaotic, voters were angry, and voters had to suffer long lineups.”

Additionally, Lake’s lawsuit requests various public records, including those pertaining to canvassing. According to the filing, without access to the requested records, the plaintiff “cannot determine the full scope of the identified problems and their effects on voters.”

Last week, Lake published a video in which she stated that she has “organized the greatest and brightest legal team, and we are pursuing every option to address the numerous wrongs that have been committed in the previous week.”

Since Election Day, Lake has alleged difficulties in Maricopa County, the largest county in Arizona, which covers Phoenix. On November 9, she stated on Fox News that the state’s elections were “managed by idiots” and that, if won, she would convene a special session of the Arizona Legislature to solve the issue.

She also claimed that election authorities were “slow rolling” the ballot counting process, which Gates called “offensive” on November 10.

If their team had been paying attention before the election, they would have heard us repeat over and over again that we would not have results on election night or even the next day. “That it would need many days. Moreover, it is offensive for Kari Lake to suggest that the individuals working 14 to 18 hours behind me are moving slowly.”
