Kate Hudson is discussing some of her family’s most cherished holiday traditions.
The 43-year-old actress is the mother of three children: son Ryder, 18, with ex-husband Chris Robinson; son Bingham, 11, with ex-boyfriend Matt Bellamy; and daughter Rani Rose, 4, with fiance Danny Fujikawa.
“Every night, we read ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas. And Santa is aware. …Typically, Santa appears when the children are drifting off to sleep, which is crazy because the children cannot believe it,” Hudson told E! News.
“And the children are hysterical. So, they immediately fall asleep. And Santa typically left indications about the beverages and foods he enjoys at night.
The “Glass Onion: Knives Out Mystery” actress added, “And some years, it’s cookies and milk.” “Some years are reminiscent of rum, coke, and licorice. Some years, he resembles a dirty martini because he requires a break.”
The “Fool’s Gold” actress said last month that she co-parents her three children with their three different fathers peacefully.
“It may not appear traditional from the outside, but I feel like we’re killing it on the inside,” said the Academy Award candidate to The Sunday Times.
“The bond I’ve established with three children from three separate fathers is really powerful, and it belongs to us.
“I have no interest in imposing a conventional concept of love or marriage. I would like to have a long-term intimate relationship with my partner, but I don’t have rose-colored glasses.
The cast member of “Knives Out” has three children.
“My life objective is to feel and give love,” Hudson continued, “but I’m also pragmatic, so I take things day by day.” “I put a lot of effort into relationships because I enjoy them. My parents have done an incredible job of preserving this dance.”
Hudson was referring to her 77-year-old mother Goldie Hawn and her 71-year-old husband of 39 years, Kurt Russell. Despite being the biological daughter of Hawn and 73-year-old musician Bill Hudson, Hudson has stated that she considers Russell to be her father.
In May of 2000, Kate met Robinson, and the couple moved in together a few days later. In 2004, Hudson gave birth to Ryder, who was born on New Year’s Eve of that year. The couple split in November 2006 and divorce was finalized in October 2007.
Hudson stated that her first child is “at college and extremely happy,” adding, “Chris and I simply need to check in every so often.”
Bellamy, 44, and the Fabletics creator began dating in 2010 after meeting at the Coachella Music Festival in Indio, California. The couple announced their engagement in April 2011 and gave birth to Bingham “Bing” in July of the same year.
In December 2014, the actress and the lead singer of Muse revealed they had ended their engagement. Since ending their relationship, they have stayed on friendly terms, with Hudson telling the Times that she “couldn’t ask for a finer co-parent.”
In December 2016, the “Almost Famous” actor began dating Fujikawa, 36, a longtime family friend. Hudson met the musician for the first time when she was 23 and pregnant with Ryder.
The actress has described her family as a “unit” and stated that the unconventional family structure is “killing it.”
Hudson announced in April 2018 that he and his partner were expecting their first child, and they welcomed Rani later that year. The couple announced their engagement in September 2021.
Hudson told the Times that the pair had no immediate plans to tie the knot.
She said with a smile, “I hope we get married.” “We are in no hurry. On top of everything else, wedding planning is the last thing I need right now, yet I’m excited about it.
“Last night, he was seeing old footage of him and Rani on his smartphone, and it warmed my heart. He is a fantastic father and stepfather.”
