Kenyan Man in court for robbing his neighbour after he lost his job

On Tuesday, February 8, a man named Daniel Ooko Alego appeared in Kenya’s Makadara Law Court for allegedly robbing a neighbor who refused to accommodate him.
The suspect, along with two others, is accused of breaking into Samuel Mutahi’s home and stealing his three laptops, phone, and money.
Alego and his accomplices were caught on CCTV camera breaking into and stealing from Mutahi’s home, according to Mutahi.
Appearing for the first hearing before Makadara Senior Resident magistrate M. Malingu, Mutahi told the court that Alego committed the offence on August 16, 2021, at Clay City in Kasarani, Sub-County.
He says that accused stole his electronics and cash all amounting to Ksh135,600.
The victim said the robbery incident occurred after he left his house with his wife.
Mutahi said;  “I came back at around 9:00 pm and found the door broken and the items were stolen.
The following morning, I went to ask for help from the caretaker who reviewed the CCTV footage.
“That was when we saw Alego and the other two; a woman and a man committing the crime.
” Mutahi further disclosed that Alego once approached him to sleep in his house, but he was not comfortable with the request.
He added;  “He asked me to allow him to sleep in my house because he had lost his job and he did not have money to afford better accommodation, but I could not allow him.”
The matter will be mentioned on February 25.
