Landlords angry about horse in bar

Pub managers criticized a patron who brought a horse into their business, calling it a “health and safety hazard” and “total nonsense.”

Customers at Swanmore, Hampshire’s The Brickmakers pub were horrified to see a person leading a horse inside on December 29.

Children are not allowed in the bar after 7 o’clock, but staff members complained that they were “wrecking the place.”

The business’s owners, Koren and Gareth Blake, said on social media that bringing the horse “into the premises was not appropriate.”

Just to be clear, we don’t accept any pets or livestock in our bar, they said.

‘Aside from the utter absurdity of it and the wellbeing of the poor horse, it’s a health and safety problem.

We also don’t let kids inside our pub after 7 o’clock. People will be excluded if they don’t follow the rules.

We don’t want to be a location where kids can run about and cause havoc while their parents drink.

“I’m so tired of complaining about the same issues.

Customers that disobey our policies going forward won’t be served.

They urged stronger police presence in the community as they put the post to bed.

However, several individuals found the episode amusing and posted jokes on social media.

One person wrote: “I feel bad for the neighbors.”

Since 2011, Koren and Gareth had operated an independently owned bar. However, in 2020, they were struggling to maintain their establishment solvent due to the epidemic.

They explained how they lived above the bar with their kid and dog and that Koren manages the front of house while Gareth is the head chef.

Koren expressed her gratitude to their landlord for allowing them a rent break during the lockdown.

Without the assistance, she said, “We would have definitely closed.”
