After facing a delay, LATAM Airlines has announced its readiness to recommence flights on the São Paulo, Brazil to Johannesburg, South Africa route.
The airline’s decision to resume this commercial route on September 4, 2023, comes after a three-year hiatus caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, according to Travel News.

The route will operate three times a week, utilizing a Boeing 787-900 aircraft with a three-class configuration.

The direct operation between São Paulo and Johannesburg is expected to offer a unique product in the airline market.

Tshifhiwa Tshivhengwa, CEO of the Tourism Business Council of South Africa, highlighted the importance of Brazil and Argentina as key source markets for South African tourism.

LATAM Airlines has established the following flight schedule, with departures three times a week:
– Flight LA8059 will leave Johannesburg at 12:50 on Tuesdays, Fridays, and Sundays, arriving in São Paulo at 18:55.
– Flight LA8058 will depart São Paulo at 17:25 on Mondays, Thursdays, and Sundays, reaching Johannesburg at 08:10 the following day.
