Letitia Dean, best known for her role as Sharon Watts in the popular British soap opera EastEnders, has undergone an incredible weight loss transformation.
Dean, who made her debut as an original cast member of the show at the age of 17, has been a central part of several major storylines throughout the years.
The actress has been open about her struggles with body image, revealing that she underwent a breast reduction as a teenager due to the constant abuse she received because of her weight.
Dean has often been the subject of trolls targeting her because of her weight.
Speaking on the EastEnders spin-off show Secrets from the Square in 2020, the actress revealed that she had a lot of negative things said about her weight, including that she was too fat and other actors complained they couldn’t fit on the same set with her.
In a bid to stop the nasty comments, Dean underwent a breast reduction.
She told Hello! Magazine that while she still gets the occasional attention on her appearance, it doesn’t bother her as much anymore.
Following her return to EastEnders from 2001 until 2006, Dean took part in the TV show Strictly Come Dancing.
She revealed that the main reason for doing the show was to change her lifestyle and stop “yo-yo” dieting.
The actress admitted that her weight had yo-yoed up and down for years, and she was so sick of extreme dieting.
For years, she would go on fad diets like Atkins or only eat eggs.
In a bid to overhaul her lifestyle, Dean released a fitness DVD in 2008 titled Letitia Dean’s Lean Routine.
Dean’s weight loss transformation was evident when her character Sharon Watts sported a figure-hugging navy dress on EastEnders.
Fans took to social media to compliment the actress on how incredible she looked.
The actress revealed that she focused on healthy foods, including “Pitta bread with a grilled skinless chicken breast and lots of greens,” and after ditching junk food in her diet, she had “so much more energy.”
It was also claimed that Dean opted for a new diet plan that saw her reduce her daily calorie intake to 1,300.
