Lindsay Clancy, who is accused of strangling her three small children, remains hospitalized and is “improving daily” after attempting suicide during the horrible attack, according to a top police official.
In an email to the New Haven Register, Duxbury Police Chief Michael Carbone stated, “I am unaware of her current condition.” She has, however, communicated with family and friends and is improving daily.
Clancy, a 32-year-old Massachusetts General Hospital labor and delivery nurse on leave, was injured when she leaped out a window of her Duxbury home after reportedly assaulting her children.
She is accused of killing her 5-year-old daughter Cora, her 3-year-old son Dawson, and her 8-month-old son Callan, who died in a hospital on Friday.
Carbone informed the news site that police and the office of Plymouth District Attorney Timothy Cruz are attempting to arrange Clancy’s arraignment, but that it will depend on Clancy’s condition.
Rita Musgrove, her grandmother, stated that she was unaware of Clancy’s actions and unsure of how the tragedy may unfold.
“Everything is so challenging at the moment. We have no idea,” Musgrove told Hearst Connecticut Media by telephone.
Clancy allegedly tried a murder-suicide when her husband, Patrick, was out picking up a takeout order.
Clancy, 32, was reportedly enrolled in a “intense” postpartum depression treatment program at the time she allegedly murdered two of her children.
Prior to the catastrophe, Clancy had discussed her issues with anxiety as a new mother on social media.
According to NBC Boston, she suffered from postpartum depression; however, family members did not reply to questions about whether she also coped with psychosis — a condition that doctors say is sometimes exacerbated by shame and guilt.
Patrick commented on GoFundMe that it is impossible to comprehend how much you will love your children until you have them.
After reportedly killing her 5-year-old daughter Cora and 3-year-old son Dawson, Clancy was charged with strangulation. Callan, her 8-month-old son, also passed away.
“The same holds true for comprehending the sadness of their loss. I’m absolutely lost without Cora, Dawson, and Callan,” he stated.
However, he begged with the public to pardon his wife, whom he characterized as “loving and caring toward everyone.”
However, he maintained compassion for his wife, for whom he voiced support.
Clancy added, “I want to ask each of you to find it within yourselves to forgive Lindsay as I have.”
“The real Lindsay was loving and compassionate toward everyone, including me, our children, her family, her friends, and her patients. Her own essence is infused with love. Now, all I pray for her is that she finds peace,” he continued.
