On Tuesday, a state representative from Louisiana was detained for allegedly purchasing cocaine from a drug dealer outside of a fast food restaurant.
The executive secretary for the Louisiana State Board of Private Security Examiners is Bridgette Hull, 37.
When a representative from the Louisiana Attorney General Office approached them, she was buying cocaine from dealer Steven McCarthy, who was being watched.
Hull was detained on the spot, but McCarthy escaped, starting a chase. Later, he was apprehended after striking another vehicle.
McCarthy and Bridgette Hull were discovered to be engaged in a narcotics deal before running away, according to the Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office.
According to authorities, the pair was accused of having a handgun in their hands while being in possession of fentanyl, meth, and other illegal drugs.
A friend of the suspected dealer was also detained; however, his name hasn’t been made public.
It took some time before a member of the Louisiana State Board of Private Security Examiners could be reached for comment about Hull’s arrest.
Hull’s annual salary is $85,000, according to the documents. According to its website, the State Security Examiners office assists officers with licencing applications and offers further educational requirements.
The Louisiana State Board of Private Security Examiners will have a special board meeting on September 8 to review the situation, although it is unknown whether she will be dismissed or not.
The board will decide whether Hull “should continue to hold or be dismissed from the post of Executive Secretary,” according to the meeting notification.
The Livingston Parish Detention Center houses Hull.
Meth and fentanyl were discovered by the police on McCarthy and Hull.
The amount of narcotics police have confiscated is unknown.
The arrests follow the August 23 arrest of “a big fentanyl and heroin distributor” by Louisiana police in Covington, according to WDHN News.
For three weeks, the Covington Police Department has been searching for Jovan Williams, 24. Later, cops discovered him “in a drainage ditch in the area.”
The quantity of suspected fentanyl Williams is accused of possessing, according to the police, is “lethal enough to kill around 80,000 people, with an estimated street value of $70,000.”
Williams is detained at the St. Tammany Parish Detention Center on a number of charges, including unlawful possession of a firearm and evading arrest.
