Mamelodi Sundowns return to action for the first time in 2022 when they travel to Richards Bay for a crunch Nedbank Cup Round of 32 clash.
The Brazilians will be looking to retain their Nedbank Cup title however standing in their way is a tricky Richards Bay side.

Mngqithi wary of giant killers
“I said before, personally, you can even ask my players, the most difficult matches for me are those where I must be the one motivating the players to go and fight.” Mamelodi Sundowns co-coach said.
“When I play Kaizer Chiefs, I play Orlando Pirates, I play SuperSport United, I know the players also know within them they have to win but in matches when everybody expects you to win, you have to dig a little bit deeper.
”We have tried to put up a good culture at Mamelodi Sundowns to try to win every match that we play because of the same reason, be it a friendly match, be it a practice match, small-sided game, we always fight for a result and maybe that will help carry us through.
“But one must fully understand that playing against teams currently doing well and number one on the log in NFD and a team known of beating big teams, everybody has this expectation that they will also upset us.
“But the good thing now, it is not a secret that they are giant killers, they have killed so many giants and Mamelodi Sundowns don’t want to come out in history amongst giants that have been killed by Richards Bay.
“Many will remember giant slayers Richards Bay from last season’s Nedbank Cup after they put an end to the might Kaizer Chiefs’ hopes in the opening round!”
