Man charged with 21 offences in Millstream

Cairns Highway Patrol, along with assistance from the Far North Tactical Crime Squad and Ravenshoe Police, have charged a 34-year-old man with 21 offences following a search warrant at a Millstream property last month (February 27).

On February 11 at approximately 8am, an officer conducting proactive patrols on Gillies Range Road at Barrine observed a motorcycle allegedly driving at 130km/h in a 100km/h zone. The officer attempted to intercept the rider, who allegedly failed to stop for police.

Extensive investigations led police to a property at Millstream, where a search warrant was executed. Four handguns, seven rifles, along with multiple knives and other weapons were located and seized. It will be alleged that two of the firearms were loaded and not secured.

Furthermore, a motorbike, a quantity of methylamphetamine, cannabis including plants, and drug utensils were located. As a result, a 34-year-old Gordonvale man was charged with a total of 21 offences, including various counts of unlawful possession of weapons, possessing dangerous drugs, and disobeying traffic laws.

A 61-year-old Millstream woman was also charged with one count each of possessing and producing dangerous drugs. Both individuals are expected to appear before Atherton Magistrates Court on March 21.
