A guy from Las Vegas was reportedly killed in a tiny aircraft accident in Minnesota when he was dispersing his father’s ashes while flying, according to the police.
According to CBS station KLAS-TV, Lee Cemensky, 58, was a passenger with pilot Douglas Johnson, 61, when their “homemade” and “ultralight” aircraft crashed into a forested area on August 28.
According to a statement from the Crow Wing County Sheriff’s office, when police learned at 6:44 PM that Johnson’s jet had not arrived at its destination, they immediately began investigating.
According to the statement, deputies discovered Cemensky and Johnson’s deaths around 8:36 pm.
Deputies who arrived at the site of the collision discovered that Cemensky was dispersing his father’s ashes, according to Lt. Craig Katzenberger of the Crow Wing County Sheriff’s Office, who spoke to KLAS-TV.
Leo John Cemensky, Cemensky’s father, passed away at home on August 7 at the age of 80, according to an obituary from the Koop Funeral Home.
According to authorities, the Federal Aviation Administration, the National Transportation Safety Board, and the Crow Wing County Sheriff’s office are all looking into the disaster.
