On Wednesday evening, a woman was arrested for allegedly careening a stolen car onto the sidewalk outside an Upper Manhattan funeral home, striking six people, including two 3-year-old girls, according to the police.
Deanna Cimaglia, 34, of Peekskill, had lost control of the black Honda Accord she had stolen in Yonkers, just after 6 p.m. at West 190th Street and Broadway in Fort George.
The vehicle had jumped the curb and hit the toddlers and three adults outside R.G. Ortiz Funeral Home, according to authorities.
The little girls had bloody noses and bruises on their faces and were taken to Cohen Children’s Medical Center, while two women and one man had neck and back pain and were transported to the same hospital.
Another woman was taken to Mount Sinai Morningside with a broken leg, according to the police.
Fortunately, everyone was listed in stable condition, authorities said. Cimaglia had initially fled the scene but later returned and was taken into custody.
She was charged with criminal possession of stolen property and aggravated unlicensed operator, because of her suspended license.
She was also slapped with a violation for driving without a license, the police said.
Investigators believe that Cimaglia had been drinking before the crash, but she ultimately did not face a drunk driving charge, according to the police.
