A armed guy was shot in the leg by police as they sought to detain him outside a Woolworths in a Sydney suburb.
A 26-year-old guy was allegedly assaulting two ladies with a knife at the Woolworths on Bunnerong Road in Matraville in the city’s eastern suburbs around 4.30 p.m.
Four police patrol cars from the Eastern Beaches Area Command arrived to the site, and the man was confronted by cops in a neighboring parking lot, where he allegedly threatened them with a knife.

A man with a stable condition was taken to St. Vincent’s Hospital (pictured)
Officers fired a Taser at the man before shooting him in the thigh. He was treated by paramedics at the site before being transferred to St. Vincent’s Hospital in a stable condition.
Now, a critical incident team composed of officers from the Inner West Police Area Command will investigate the incident, including the discharge of a police handgun.
This investigation will be reviewed independently.
