Matt Barnes asserts that he has twice prevented Skip Bayless from getting his a– whooped.
Barnes, a former NBA player who currently serves as an ESPN analyst and presenter of the “All The Smoke” podcast, posted a video response to Bayless’ contentious remark about the Bengals-Bills game being postponed on Instagram earlier this week. It now looks that the video has been removed.
Barnes stated in his video that Bayless’ tweet exhibited “blatant disrespect” toward Hamlin, who remains hospitalized at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center. Barnes then asserted that an NBA player and a coach wanted “f–k Skip up” at some point within the previous two years.
Barnes stated, “I have had to diffuse two situations on a personal level.” “One interview with a coach and one with an NBA player. They desired to f–k up Skip. Personally, I was required to do it. One was from this year and the other from the previous year. I had to contact Uncle and arrange up a conversation for those who desired to f–k Skip up. Fortunately, cooler heads prevailed, but in my opinion, this has gone too far.”
Bayless was criticized during “Monday Night Football” for tweeting worry over the postponement of the Week 17 game because Buffalo safety Damar Hamlin underwent CPR during the first quarter.
On the field, the 24-year-old suffered heart arrest.
The NFL is without a doubt considering postponing the remainder of this game, but how?
Bayless tweeted during the event. “At this point in the regular season, a game of this magnitude is crucial to the regular-season outcome… which now seems so irrelevant.”
Barnes, who played 14 NBA seasons and won the 2017 championship with the Warriors, did not identify the player or coach allegedly involved in the events. He went on to describe how Bayless’ co-host on “Undisputed,” Shannon Sharpe, looked frustrated on the FS1 program.
Barnes stated, “Shannon has had or has a lot of love for dude, but it’s evident that she’s exhausted.” Someone is going to end up harming Skip because his ego, arrogance, and disdain have always been at this level, but I believe it’s reached a new level now that he’s demeaning his co-host Shannon.
“…This guy Skip is a jerk, and he believes he can say and do whatever he wants without repercussions. There may not be any ramifications from his employment, but someone is going to attack Skip and damage him. I do not know if it will occur in 2023 or 2024, but it will occur.”
Barnes remarked on Sharpe’s apparent dissatisfaction on “Undisputed” earlier in the video, remarking that his body language looked strained.
Barnes stated, “Recently, he’s been extremely disrespectful and impolite, which is normal, but he’s also been this way with Shannon.” “You could see Shannon biting his tongue and taking long breaths to prevent him from leaping over the table and ringing the man’s neck. But I believe Skip’s day will come, and it may not be in the form of a dismissal, because white men in this field can get away with pretty much anything.
Sharpe skipped Tuesday’s edition of “Undisputed” and, upon his return on Wednesday, criticized Bayless for his tweet.
“Skip tweeted something, and although I disagree with the tweet, I hope that Skip will remove it,” Sharpe stated at the time, before lashing back at Bayless for interrupting his monologues repeatedly.
Despite sending an apology on Monday, Bayless held by his tweet, telling Sharpe that he will not erase it and added that no one at Fox had a problem with it.
Barnes joined a number of former and current NFL and NBA professionals in criticizing Bayless’ tweet after the Bengals-Bills game.
Stephen Jackson, Barnes’ co-host on “All The Smoke,” threatened to “slap the sh-t out of [Bayless]” in a tweet, saying, “All respect gone.”
Free agent NBA point guard Isaiah Thomas wrote in response to Bayless, “I hope they fire you, dude!!! It is so terrible that you even CONSIDER the game.
Terrell Owens, a Hall of Fame wide receiver, copied Bayless’ statement on Instagram and called it “the most abhorrent comment ever,” adding, “I pray you LOSE YOUR JOB!!
According to Hamlin’s physicians at UCMC, his breathing tube was withdrawn overnight, as reported by the Bills on Friday. Hamlin has remained in serious condition in the intensive care unit since he was admitted to the hospital on Monday night after experiencing heart arrest in the first quarter.
“He continues to make remarkable recovery progress,” the Bills said. His neurologic function is still intact, and he is able to communicate with his family and care staff.
Friday, Hamlin also FaceTimed the team and said, “Love you boys.”
The NFL stated on Thursday that the Week 17 game between the Buffalo Bills and Cincinnati Bengals will not be played and has been canceled.
