New York Post has heard that superstar Carlos Correa and the Mets reached a late-night agreement after his deal with the Giants fell through. Sources told The Post that Correa’s new contract with the Mets is worth $315 million over 12 years.
Cohen, who was on vacation in Hawaii, stepped in to complete the transaction he believed he had lost because of an issue with Correa’s medical with the Giants. Correa will play third base for the Mets, providing the Mets with a star-studded roster and Cohen with a record salary of more than $380 million.
Cohen told The Post from Hawaii, where he was, “We need one more thing, and this is it.” “This was crucial… This puts us in the lead. This is a strong group. I hope it’s a strong squad!”
Correa’s deal with the Mets is pending a physical. The 13-year, $350 million contract with the Giants fell through due to an issue that occurred during his physical.
