A state prosecutor in Tijuana, Mexico, warns that three recent murders in the city along the U.S.-Mexico border share similarities with those committed by the infamous serial murderer Ted Bundy.
According to KSWB-TV, Baja California Attorney General Ricardo Iván Carpio stated to reporters in Tijuana, “This subject has criminal tendencies connected with violent and psychotic behavior.” His profile closely resembles that of a notorious serial killer who rose to prominence decades ago: Ted Bundy.
Carpio stated that three of the 1,859 homicides recorded so far this year in Tijuana, which is located directly across the U.S. border and 20 miles south of downtown San Diego, exhibit signs of a serial killer who seduces vulnerable women, convinces them to meet in a private location, and then performs violent sexual acts on them before murdering them.
In addition to parallels in the manner in which the crimes are committed, Mexican investigators believe the suspect is an American who crossed the border and have contacted American authorities in an attempt to catch him in the United States.
Carpio stated, “We are in discussion with and cooperating with other institutions to seek and apprehend this individual.”
Officials in Mexico suspect that the murderer is targeting vulnerable women in Tijuana.
KNSD-TV stated that the suspect found his victims at strip clubs and nightclubs in the Zona Norte neighborhood of north Tijuana, and each woman was found dead in a hotel room.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation did not immediately reply to Fox News Digital’s request for comment.
Between 1974 and 1978, Bundy, one of the most prolific serial killers in American criminal history, admitted to 30 kidnappings and killings of women and girls in seven states.
U.S. officials have been notified by Mexican police about the possibility of a murderer crossing the border into the country.
Bundy was notorious for his charming personality and ability to attract women in public places into situations where he could abduct, beat, strangle, rape, and finally murder them.
In 1989, after being sentenced to death in Florida, Bundy was executed by electric chair.
“Without a doubt, we will arrest him and extradite him to Baja California, where he will be processed,” Carpio told reporters of the hunt for the murderer.
