Valentino’s spring fashion show included an autumn theme.
This week, 58-year-old American supermodel Kristen McMenamy fell on the runway at the Valentino haute couture show for spring 2023 in Paris.
After a Twitter clip of McMenamy falling to the ground went viral, the luxury brand was criticized for having the catwalk queen walk in what some observers deemed to be ill-fitting heels.
“She was likely trembling. “It’s embarrassing to make a mistake not only at work but also in front of so many people who are closely observing you,” said another.
A tweeter asked, “I don’t understand how literal VALENTINO still makes models walk in shoes that are too small?”
The video, which has more than 10 million views, shows McMenamy falling as she walks down the runway.
Following her fall, witnesses came to her rescue. McMenamy hurriedly traversed the remainder of the catwalk in bare feet like a seasoned pro.
A number of social media users speculated as to why the model fell over.
Someone stated, “It’s all about the dress’s cut. If it’s so tight, girls can’t even walk in heels, let alone wear the dress. Valentino do better.”
Others suggested that it was the angle of the model’s feet, not the designer pumps, that caused the model to fall.
This time, it’s her pigeon toes, not her heels, that are to blame, a user noted.
Another person added, “No offense, but she couldn’t even walk straight without her shoes on.”
“It was not the footwear. Someone wrote that her feet are pointed in the wrong direction.
The supermodel made fun of herself on Instagram by posting a photo of herself preparing for the show.
“Before Fall,” she captioned the photograph. In the comments section, her admirers commended her for making light of her own error”It was not the footwear. A user tweeted about McMenamy, “Her feet point in the wrong direction.”
The new Valentino collection was influenced by the worldwide nightclub culture. In addition to neon pants and sequined clothes, the exhibition also featured sequined garments.
Creative director Pierpaolo Piccioli explained the inspiration behind the new line to British Vogue.
It’s the concept of the club as a place where fantasies can become a reality, where people are not only permitted to be who they want to be, but where their desires can convert them into whoever they choose to be. “I believe this is quite modern,” Piccioli stated.
