Country singer Morgan Wallen has released a new album called “One Thing at a Time” with 36 songs, clocking in at just under two hours.
Wallen addresses personal highs and lows throughout the album, starting with acknowledging his flaws on the opening track “Born With a Beer in My Hand” where he promises to stay sober.
Wallen also confronts his demons on the ’80s-inflected title track and admits falling off the wagon during lonesome periods in some of the songs.
However, Wallen also shows self-awareness and maturity in reflective ballads such as “Thought You Should Know” and “Wine Into Water,” where he apologizes to his mother and girlfriend for making bad decisions.
“One Thing at a Time” is an eclectic mix of genres, from rock to hip-hop, but at its core, Wallen remains a country boy.
He showcases his honky-tonk style on tracks like “Last Night” and “Everything I Love.”
Despite being a polarizing figure, Wallen’s album is a roller coaster of emotions that highlights personal highs and lows, making it a compelling listen.
