Mother of Charlise Mutten, who is accused of killing her nine-year-old daughter, is finally seen

The first time Charlise Mutten’s mother has been seen in public since her daughter’s alleged murder in January was in January.

Tuesday, Kallista Mutten was jailed in Campbelltown Local Court for stealing two firearms and ammunition during a house invasion five months before her fiance allegedly shot and murdered her daughter.

On January 11, Mutten’s 31-year-old boyfriend Justin Stein allegedly murdered a schoolgirl on his family’s multimillion-dollar property in Mount Wilson, west of Sydney.

Mutten, age 39, has not been linked to the suspected homicide.

He then allegedly placed Charlise’s body in a barrel and transported it in his red pickup truck before dumping her remains in the Colo River.

Mutten was pregnant with Stein’s child at the time of the murder, according to reports.

The 39-year-old admitted to taking firearms, ammo, and a substantial quantity of silver flatware and dinnerware valued at less than $60,000 in all.

Police charged Stein with murder and posted surveillance footage of him reportedly driving about with a barrel in the back of his red pickup truck shortly after the girl’s death.

In February, while investigating Charlise’s killing, authorities discovered two firearms and ammo near the schoolgirl’s vanished location.

Following a forensic investigation, police established that the items were allegedly taken from a Mount Wilson residence located on Sylvan Close on August 22, 2017.

In May, Stein was charged with two charges of unlawful possession of a firearm, two counts of unlawful possession of an unregistered firearm, and unlawful possession of ammunition. He has not entered a plea.

Mutten, allegedly accompanied by Stein, is accused of breaking into a neighbor’s property and stealing firearms, ammo, and cutlery from a weekend home.

There is no evidence that Kallista Mutten was involved in the death of Charlise.

Mutten’s attorney, Bet Turgut, informed the Katoomba Local Court on Monday that her client is at a rehabilitation center and hence unable to appear in person.

According to court documents obtained by Daily Mail Australia, she resides at an Odyssey addiction treatment center in Sydney’s southwest.

She pled guilty to charges of unlawful entry into a house in company and theft of property valued at less than $60,000

Charlise, who resided with her maternal grandparents, spent the Christmas holiday season with her mother and Stein at his family’s opulent Blue Mountains wedding location.

In January, Mutten reported her daughter missing, prompting a massive search for the nine-year-old before her death was discovered.

On the night she was allegedly murdered, the schoolgirl was in Stein’s care alone, according to police.

Police say that at the time of the alleged murder, Charlise’s mother Kallista Mutten was staying at a caravan park on the Hawkesbury River, 81 kilometers from the luxury Mount Wilson estate where Charlise is believed to have died.

Police allege that on January 11, Stein shot and killed the girl, placed her body in a barrel on the back of his red ute, and dumped it 65 kilometers away on the Colo River.

The court will revisit his case at a later date.
