A tragic case concluded at Luton Crown Court as a mother, Ellie Jacobs, was sentenced to five years in prison for the manslaughter of her five-week-old son, Archie Jacobs, and child cruelty.

The incident occurred during lockdown, and Jacobs admitted to administering a fatal dose of paracetamol to the infant.

Additionally, she confessed to causing multiple injuries to Archie, including a broken leg and foot, in the days leading up to his death.

The court heard that emergency services were called on June 5, 2020, when Archie went into cardiac arrest at a residence in Biddlesden, Buckinghamshire.
