MPs have complained to House of Commons officials about the size of their taxpayer-funded dinner portions.
Elected officials and their employees have written to the Commons’ management to express their dissatisfaction with the catering provided to those working in the ancient building.
MPs on a minimum salary of £82,000 can have fresh fish for £3.73 and a crumble dessert for 98p, according to The Sun.
Some of the comments focused on a lack of options, while others criticized the coffee’s quality.
Between October 2021 and March 2022, there were complaints over a request to remove onions from one meal, as well as a lack of poached eggs and English mustard.
Others have complained about the “quantity of spicy dishes” and the lack of “typical menu items.”
‘Where cleaning issues are detected, we move rapidly to fix them,’ a House of Commons spokeswoman told The Sun.
‘Our food and beverage offering is constantly benchmarked against similar venues, and we are always looking for ways to save money.’
